Jami Visaya, LMHC, LMFT

Hi, I'm Jami Visaya-a bilingual (English/Spanish), dual-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) serving clients across Washington State. I offer therapy services in both English and Spanish to individuals, couples (of all types), and families in all their forms. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 15 years as an educator, teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Special Education in the U.S. and abroad. That work gave me the privilege of supporting culturally diverse families through advocacy, child development, and social-emotional learning. In 2008, I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Thomas University in Florida. Since then, I've blended my backgrounds in education and mental health to do what I love-help people grow, heal, and thrive.
My approach is grounded in Relational, Humanistic and Multicultural Therapy. I work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds who want to strengthen their relationships-with themselves and others. I view each person as an expert of their own stories. My role is to honor those experiences, meet you where you are, and place our therapeutic relationship at the center of our work. Sessions with me are comfortable, real, and rooted in honest conversation. I often model practical, relationship-focused skills that support lasting growth. I also believe therapy doesn't always have to be heavy. I bring in humor and lightness when appropriate, because healing can be spontaneous and even fun. Growth often happens when we least expect it and that's something worth making space for.
When we begin therapy together, we'll take time to co-create a set of meaningful goals that feel right for you, this becomes our roadmap for the work ahead. I believe that the most helpful goals are ones that are clear, realistic, and rooted in what truly matters to you. Throughout our time together, I'll draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, always tailoring them to fit your unique needs and situation. I'm committed to being open about the tools and methods I use, and I'll share my observations with honesty and care. I welcome your questions and value open, thoughtful conversations-even the tough ones. My hope is that when our work together comes to a close, you'll leave feeling more empowered: with greater self-awareness, new ways of seeing relationships and challenges, and the confidence to make choices that align with who you are and who you're becoming.
